Different things leave us unsettled, even fans of the macabre, disgusting, horror and the bizarre can encounter films they find a little to much to take and uncomfortable to watch.

So share with us what you think is the most "Disturbing" not necessarily disgusting or scary film or films that you have ever seen and why it/they bothered you so much.

Feel free to list more than one but please give us at least a short reason as to why.

Phantasm and Swamp Thing as a kid have always stuck with me as disturbing. As far as these days.... the only movie that made me skin crawl was Teeth....but I won't even try Human Centipede...

and why?? look at these pictures and then you tell me why! actually there's many reasons but maybe one is that i've never seen anywhere people with open mouth like these! and maybe one is this i really believed that bloody sadako came out from that bloody TV! and i must add there wasn't any disgusting with that....all was disturbing and enjoyment! maybe this is a quite post modernism......having disturbing and intoxicating in the same time!? i've seen this movie 20-30 times and will again and again and again! but also i must add somethings about the remakes of movies like this in hollywood! this is a fact that hollywood has an originally taste and respectability for itself and i never change it with anything else myself....what am i saying we all knows importance of hollywood, but they really should NOT remake some eastern asia (especially horrors like j-horror, k-horror, thai-horror and ....) films like this. these movies has an originally special eastern mood (for example ghost girls with black hairs! and some more important differents) that made difficult to make a suitable and good remake in hollywood! about this movie the second remake (the ring two) i think was really more better than (omg! the ring 2002) because the director was original director (hideo nakata) but still there wasn't the black hairs and special mood that i mentioned before! ....hey hollywood, my friend! there's so many horror movies that i'm crazy about (rosemary's baby, shining, misery, carrie, the others, the blair witch project, the innocents, the thing, alien, psycho, night of the living dead, the exorcist and even new ones like 28 weeks later....how many you want i can add a lot) so please leave making remakes for movies like east asian horror movies! sorry i was talking too much but i wanted to say these one time! thanks for this thread ct

Cannibal Holocaust ... Was a interesting movie but disturbing...

Just last night, I watched a movie titled Biutiful.  It stars Javier Bardem who was really good in this movie, but in a most depressing way.  The story line is about a father trying to make a living and raise a family of 2 young children and a mentally disturbed wife in Barcelona.  I'm sure the depiction is accurate, but what a sad way to live a life.

I guess I spit On Your Grave and Last House on The Left are disturbing, there's a lot of sick things in those films, i also suppose maybe the hostel trilogy

As a kid Poltergeist scared me to death! I slept with the light on for weeks! As an adult ANYTHING with eye horror disturbs me to no end.  I can't stand anything depicting eye trauma. I always have to turn away!

Distrubing, not sure. I'm partial to films of things that could actually happen, but disturbing, for me anything silent just creeps me out. Not sure why but they freaky for me. Let me think on this...

Huh, i watched a lot disturbing movies for me, but first that comes on my mind is Funny Games, The Vanishing, Men Behind The Sun, Cannibal Holocaust etc

But most of all it was "Threads (1984)"! It scares me to death every time i watch it!

White Noise. It's not really a disturbing movie but it disturbed me after I saw it because I started watching internet videos of "real life" ghosts and all that crazy stuff.  Freaked me out being a young kid!!!

I have to agree with Mr. Torso, Poltergeist freaked me out the most until adulthood.  Even more so than any of the other horror movies of the 80s/90s.  Now though I get the heeby jeebies from skateboarders/bikers wiping face first.  I've always had bad teeth and my parents spent a lot of $$ to fix them so watching others destroy their grills makes me squimish (escpecially now that I got kids).  *shudders*

By far for me it is Nightmare On Elm Street. I went to watch the movie with a bunch of friends at a theater we had to walk to. After the movie we had to walk home down I kind you not Elm Street. We ran and were scared to death. Number 2 is Marathon Men when a hole is drilled in his front tooth - makes me sick to my stomach to think about it.
