At a basic training camp, long ago & far, far away, a drill instructor was drilling his troops when a runner came up & handed him a message.
It conveyed the news that the mother of one of his troops, a private Rodriguez, had passed away & it was the sad duty of the DI to inform him.
Studying the note for a moment, the DI had his troops form up, then commanded, "Everyone whose mother is still living, take one step forward."
As the troops started to step forward, the DI yelled,
