Sad News

Postby ctaulbee » Sep Sat 21, 2019 8:20 pm

We have sad news to share with everyone today, Testikle one of our lifetime subscribers and contributor, passed away the evening of this past July 5.

There is no official cause of death, but his doctor told his wife of 26 years it was likely just fluid buildup, he'd apparently had problems with this for a long time.

She said he thought of this group like family & was always talking about us, he loved artwork and making covers.

We at EFX are sorry to hear of his passing and send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.

OMG - I can't believe that's the reason that we hadn't heard from him lately. His family is in my thoughts.

Very sad, indeed. I spoke with his wife, yesterday. She knew all your online names & said T (Mike) spoke of all of us all the time. He was a musician & a barber. She said he had done some haircuts at his shop just 2 days before his passing & still enjoyed doing it, though he was only able to work in a very limited way. He was a keyboardist & she said he could play anything, on request. His knowledge of songs was encyclopedic. He had apparently, just gotten a new, fancy,  Hammond organ. So sad he didn't have much time to play with it. She also said he was still actively playing at local spots & with local bands. He loved music & from what she described, he never stopped & never stood still. He was always into one project or another, in music or cover art. For his memorial service, she had a large display of his cover work & videos of him playing music. She said many friends & relatives were quite intrigued with his involvement in cover art. Some of the comments were hilarious, but I can't repeat them here.

If any of you wish to reach out to her, she gave me her cell number & said she'd really love to hear from any of you who had interacted with Mike. Just PM me & I'll provide it.

RIP, T.

Hi, everyone,
This is T's wife.  I thank you sincerely for caring about Mike ("T" as I have learned) and for your kind words.  Yes, he absolutely loved working on his covers!!  He would often ask me to come over to his computer so he could show me progress on a movie cover and the disk.  Just a week before he passed, he was so very happy telling me about something he had recently learned--something about fading.  All I knew is that he was always sitting at his computer and staying up until wee hours of the morning.  I could also tell that he would be working on a movie for a day or two and then had moved onto the next.

I am so very touched hearing your feedback about Mike.  He was the love of my life.  Some of his barber shop customers who had also become close friends (like you) over 35+ years have described him as a "CHARACTER" with all caps.  Another customer said at the funeral home, "Mike was Mike."  Sometimes, at his barber shop, I would help him with typing feedback to someone while he was cutting hair.  He would most usually check things on his barber shop computer after haircuts.

Of course, I miss him dearly.  I will always be grateful for the time I had with him. I am also grateful to you for the friendships that he developed with each of you.  Yes, I had heard so much about you over the years that you are "rock stars" to me.

Again, my deepest thanks to everyone.
Best,
Diane
