That I don't remember. I started with Dos 5 then went to 6. Then finally moved to 3.1.

I probably worked with it, but can't say I remember it specifically. I still have every version of Microsoft Windows I've ever worked with on their original diskettes or CD's. My older son thinks I'm weird to keep them. I agree with him, but I still keep them, lol

Mine usually tells me there's an update and asks me if it should do it now and gives me the option to do later if i like, maybe there is something in the settings you can change?

I've looked for such an option before posting here but didn't find it. Although it might be there, but hidden or I'm just blind, lol I do remember though that I used to have this option but I'm thinking Windows doesn't offer this anymore. I don't know, as I'm really not a pro on this, never was and probably never will. But I do see that Windows is a lot more aggressive when it comes to updates. They don't seem to care much how it affects us, they just want those updates to be done at any cost.

That's how I have mine set up except other Microsoft products updates is on. For some reason, it shows me it will restart, but I kind of need more than a 5 seconds warning before it does. I don't know what the second option is all about so I always had it off like you. Mine is in English, but I don't get what it means, even in French.

I guess what I need is what Moviemonster is talking about. An option where I get a message from Windows that updates are available but I can decide if I want them done now or later. I don't see this option anymore.
