Re: The OFFICIAL SPORTS thread

The weekend went as expected on the hardwood.

The Celtics had to go to Cleveland and got their clock cleaned 116-86.

Then Houston made the trek to Oakland and the Warriors destroyed them 126-85.

Oh well tomorrow is another day lol.

Yeah, and today I think the Celtics will again be defeated. I don't know what's wrong with them that on the road they simply don't perform and seem apathetic. Cleveland will still win the series. Lebron is just leagues above everyone else and the Celtics are too imature.

Well the Capitals advance to the finals, I'm along with them for the ride I guess even though they eliminated my Penguins in round two, still can't bring myself to cheer for the Golden Knights.

Doing what they do at home up 3-2 in the series now, just need one more W, will probably lose in Cleveland, so I'm hoping for a game seven victory which will be played in Boston.

I don't think we can defeat the Warriors or the Rockets for the big prize but I'd like to try lol.

I dunno if Boston has the cojones to beat Lebron in game 7. Game 7 is for the great players and you can bet he's gonna put on a show.

That being said I hope we frikkin win this series. Boston has never lost a 2-0 advantage in playoff history. Don't want it to start now.

Big game 5 fixing to tip-off in Houston, this game will likely decide the outcome of the series, they are 2-2 now and each have lost one on home court so far.

If GS wins they could close them out in Oakland, if they lose they have to win game 6 in Oakland to force a game 7 but it would be back in Houston so lot on the line in the game tonight, been a great series so far I expect this game to be as well.

Both series are having outcomes unforssen by most. Most expected a GSW and a Cavs blowout or close to it and now bother underdogs stand on the brink of going to the finals. let's see if the "favorites" can como around backed to the corner and in the face of adversity show if they're really that great...or not.

Well we have a fourth in a row Warriors vs Cavs final, GS is up 2-1 over the last three years.

I think unless someone gets hurt on the Warriors team it will be 3-1 at the end as I don't think the Cavs can fend them off, they barely handled the young Celtic team and that took them seven games, the Warriors are the defending champs and a force to be reckoned with on any given day.

The Cavs on the other hand only have Lebron James and one man teams don't usually get it done against the Warriors, Mr Harden is proof of that given the Rockets crushing defeat at home last night.

Now on to more interesting things lol.

2018 Season kicks off in Chicago on May 31st with reigning NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel world champion Brittany Force piloting the Advance Auto Parts/Monster Energy dragster.

Brittany joins her sister, Funny Car points leader Courtney Force, in representing the Advance Auto Parts brand.

Both are of course daughters of the legendary John Force, the 16-time Funny Car world champion.

But Harden isn't Lebron. If there is anyone on the planet that can eventually defeat the warriors it's Lebron who is by far the best player in the world. He didn't have any help and single handedly went to the finals(he's always there) and he may lose but he's gonna put on some insane numbers. Expect 40 points + each game and triple doubles every single game

French Open 2018 is it Rafael Nadal's to lose?

He is the #1 ranked player in the world and arguably the best on clay.

But I don't agree with such a short season. It probably has always been that way but things don't necessarily have to stagnate. If you look at almost all the NFL players, almost all of them when the NFL is over are playing in other leagues around the world. The same happens with WNBA players. They actually play a much longer season in Europe than they actually do in their national league. Why can't there be WNBA and NFL all year round like the NBA? NFL is broken bones every weekend but there's always a full squad available. I mean, how many players does an NFL team have? 50,60? I don't know, but I'd like football all year round like basketball.

That about sums it up, 51 points from LeBron and a big L to go with it, like I said one man can not beat the Warriors, the Cavs have struggled all season, I see no reason for them to suddenly get better in the finals, time will tell.

They had a great game right up until the end, still I don't think James can put up numbers like that every game this series, he never has in fact that was his career playoff high ever, I think he just does not have the help to get it done.

The Cavs should have won this game though has that stupid moron not failed the last free throw it would be in the bag and then suddenly JR gets the rebound and just leaves the paint...what an idiot.

Lebron showed us why he's up there with the legends. He has a bunch of idiot players around him, clearly these guys without him would not even be in the payoffs and they should have won this game.

Plus, the Warriors are a dirty team. That Green is the epitomy of an ugly, moronic player. He's just a nasty player.

Add to that that the Cavs were blatantly robbed. Lebron single handedly went to the greatest team ever assembled's home and gave them had it not been the refs, he would've won.

I'm starting to hate Golden State. That Green is filthy and they're always getting help from the refs. And when they foul they always seem outraged that the refs called a foul.

Cavs should have won a lot of games this year and in years past, the fact they have not and others have to say "they were cheated" is testament to how great they are not, if you win by 20 it's hard to have one call change the outcome of the game, when you are a last second shot, lets rely on last minute luck to win kind of team, like they are, then that is what you get.

I'm always saddened when teams do that, if your great why is the game so close to begin with...

I know what you mean about dirty players take JR Smith for example, he is a jerk is always pushing someone in the back or falling on legs... could have broken Klay Thompson's leg last night but hey that's how the Cavs do it right?, "whatever it takes" is that not their mantra this year...

Look even LeBron gave Curry a shove at the end of the game last night, he's a hood-rat too that just happened to make it to the NBA, he has no class.

Hell James shoves people all the time, he's a bully on the court and rarely gets called for a foul, he can't go to the basket without pushing or hooking someone, I for one will be glad when he is finally gone, I'm sick of hearing his name to be honest.

Then there is the Jackass Tristan Thompson shoving a ball in dudes face after he got ejected.

Yeah the Cavs are a real class act, glad to see you defending them Tony...

Some of JR Smith classy moments many of which got him ejected

C, the same can be applied to the Golden State Warriors. If they're the best team ever assembled, as some say(pfff), why where they on the brink of losing at home game 1 in the powerful Oracle Arena?

Why did they even have to go to overtime at home against a one man team?

That shows also why Golden State isn't such a great team(by your criteria) and why Lebron is one of the greats.

Look, I love Michael Jordan, you know it, but you can't ignore that Lebron is just a magnificent player. One thing doesn't invalidate the other. He's great.

And please, JR being nasty doesn't give Green the right to be so as well and blatantly try to injure Lebron by poking him in the eye. You have to look at it both ways. I could also give you hundreds of videos of Green kicking guys in the nuts and doing the most outrageous things. I'm not defending any particular team. I'm not a Warriors fan. I'm certainly not a Cavaliers fan.

I'm just defending the sport. Don't attack me man. I'm not a fan of Lebron but I can't deny he's a great player. He's a different player. His physicality allows him to attack the rim in different ways than say Kobe or Jordan. It's a different style of basketball that is used in today's game. There were almost no 3's taken in Jordan's era and even in Kobe's day. Now it's a three throw frenzy(I find it nuts, that's why Houston lost. It's a one trick pony).

I'm just defending the game. When it was JR pushing Horford in the conference finals I said a guy like that should never play again. I say the same thing right now about Green. That's just what I'm saying.

Why I said that I was disliking the Warriors has to do with this game in particular and especially in their games in Oakland where the players and the crowd get outraged for the refs even calling out a blatant foul. Like yesterday I remember Green even protesting a foul and the crowd booing JR for slipping onto Klay Thompson(the guy is known to be a dirty player but he clearly slipped).

Let's try to be fair. I like the sport and I like Boston, especially Kyrie, so I'm biased when it's the Celtics probably, but not when it's another team. I try not to be.

That's my point, they all play rough.

To say this one was worse on this day is just silly.

So Lebron got poked in the eye, he's a big boy and he does plenty of poking and pushing himself that's all I'm saying.

He is big and when drives to the basket aggressively like he does all the time, against big aggressive defenders what are they suppose to do "get out of his way?"

You do realize the silliness of that right?

If he don't want contact he can stay on the perimeter and then if Green comes out there and punches him in the face I'll be the first to say foul, I just don't think he deserves special treatment like you are sort of suggesting, he has gotten plenty of calls going his way his whole career, like any other star does.

I hate both teams myself but they both can't lose, given that I hate the Cavs more as they are a east team and a direct threat to my dear Celtics, I do hope they get swept in four, I doubt that will happen but one can dream can't they.

As far as the game goes they had the same five minutes GS had they were outscored 17-7 and lost, James took several shots in overtime and missed as did others, point is he is not always that clutch guy the media paints him as, they are quick up on the old "Lebron Soap-Box" if it's a last second shot for a win but slow to mention the five missed shots at the end that cost them the game.

I'm just saying if we are going to call it down the line, then call it down the line both ways, not just the one that favors James.

You do realize the silliness of that right?

No. It's not silly. If he's has size and wheight over almost, if not everydefender in the league he just takes advantage of that. That's smart of him. He should actually do it more often but he has to play point guard now because all his team mates are incompetents.

And you're wrong. he does want contact but what Green did is a little beyond contact don't you think? He could've seriously injured his eye, and that action was on purpose. On purpose. You can clearly see that in the replays.

I don't care how clutch Lebron is or how he shoves Steph when Steph started talking trash in the first place. That' sbetween them and it wasn't serious. they were joking at the end of the game with their mouths covered, chatting like friends.

What I don't like is what happens in every sport. Bad referee decisions that influence the game. Dirty players.

I was just watching the game as an NBA fan. I critize when I feel it needs to be done. Clearly the over ruling of the offensive Durant foul and the JR decision were key in a game between what is suppoosed to be the greatest team ever assembled that dominates everyone and everything and a team that barely got by a "teenage" Boston.

Comparisons of players is a stupid thing in my opinion. I'm just talking about this game and in this game, let's just face the facts: the Warriors were extremely lucky.

Doesn't mean they wouldn't win the ring. Just means they got lucky to win this game at all.

I just want to watch basketball and for it to be fair. I don't care for no team but I get the vibe that the Warriors are full of it and think they can do whatever they like.

Take for example Green acting like a moron at the end of the game when he fouled James and started dancing.  :-l
