14mm blu ray

Postby Nickaberdeen » Aug Mon 07, 2017 7:23 pm

Does anyone on here upload 14mm blu rays? the reason i ask is i made a template for my cases before knowing what specific sizes are approved for these cases(by measuring the cases with a tape measure and inputting it into photoshop). i just wanted to know if anyone uses the dimensions on the approved list for the 14mm case. my cases were almost the same. they are 3201 x 1762 which equates to 1518 x 165 x 1518. when i saw the measurements on here i couldnt figure out how they will work because the spine is still 165 but it would need to be 1520.5 on either side?

i just wanted to check as i am away to make a new master template and just wanted to make sure this is correct. thanks

As long as you're starting a new template, I would recommend using one of the standards we list here. These were chosen because they are representative of the most commonly found cases & being a mm or two off, here or there, doesn't much matter. Then again, I could be wrong...  :D

5 pixels is trivial. When you start talking about 40 to 70 pixels, then you have issues, but 5? No big deal. At least, that's what my experience has been. Pixels are a screen measure, not paper. The only measure that counts on paper is mm. This whole topic can go off in directions it needn't. The main point is, if you're within a few mm, it makes little difference, a few pixels, far less.

But I'm beginning to waste your time. It would be best if a gallery moderator or admin satisfied you on this.

Pixels equal dots and images uploaded here are for print so they have to be 300dpi that 300 pixels per inch.

Meaning 5 pixels is less than half a MM -actually 0.42 of a MM- most people can't cut that straight even with a straight edge lol.

That's why we have a list as if not what this person measures vs another person measures when converted to pixels or dots can look big but it's really not for example a 15mm cover will fit a 14mm case just fine.

The numbers on here were calculated based on the case manufactures recommended insert size, see all case manufactures spec the specific inlay dimensions for every given case.

That's why many get random sizes, because instead of just googling the info they measure...

Example right from the Viva Elite site:

so is it okay? i thought id ask because when i was reading through all the rules and things it said any uploads that werent the exact size of the approved ones it would be automatically rejected. im not a massive fan of resizing all of the things in my master template so just wanted to see if i needed to change it or not. thanks

i use 3206x1762 with a 165 spine for 15mm cases (cases i got from the UK).

you should stick to the approved dimensions imho.
