The original was a groundbreaker & set the stage for most Sci-fi that followed, with the bleak, rainy, bottom of the pond atmosphere & the mangled patois the denizens spoke. Of course, that was due to the prescience of the author of the novel it was based on. Ia am curious, also. I never would have picked Ryan Gosling as the main character. I have never seen him as the physical action type. But, I've been wrong on such things before. I hope it works. The premise has promise & it will be interesting to see how it works out.

At first, when I saw Denis Villeneuve, I wasn't going to bother going any further and pass as he directed the movie I hated the most "Enemy". But then I saw Harrison Ford and that made me curious. I have every single movie he ever made and the trailer pretty much convinced me. I guess we'll see how the reviews goes on that one.

Well, I'm still not convinced about Gosling, but I'll give this one a shot.

Looks like it does stay faithful to the original with the background and buildings shown in the full trailer.
So what do we have here, workers who are slaves, trying to free the slaves and infiltrate the masses. And who is the replicant now, Officer K (Ryan Gosling) or Deckard (Harrison Ford)? If it's Deckard, then that will really change the way I view the first movie.
I do like the role Ryan Gosling played in the movies Drive, and Only God Forgives as the determined yet quiet type so I'm interested to see how he does with this.

That's a great comparison clip. I'm amazed by how well the first movie still looks.
I'm going to have to watch it again and see if I can get through each version, the 1982 International Cut, the 1992 Director's Cut and the 2007 Final Cut. The Final Cut is my favourite version as it's the only one Ridley Scott had any input on and the picture and sound is great. Although  I don't mind the other versions, either with or without Deckard's (Harrison Ford) narration.
