Summer 2017 Closes Out with the Worst Labor Day Weekend in 17 Years

Thanks to some stronger-than-expected performances, this weekend ended up better than was forecast and yet, this is still the worst three-day Labor Day weekend in twelve years.

The top twelve grossed a combined $51.5 million and you have to go back to 2000, when the top twelve grossed a combined $47 million, to find a worse performance.

I think it has as much to do with the number of poor films continually churned out by Hollywood as anything, people eventually get sick of paying money to be disappointed over and over.

I stopped paying to see movies at the box office many moons ago. I hate crowds, waiting in line, being kicked at the back of my chair by kids (or adults for that matter), having this big tall dude in front of me that blocks the screen, people talking and laughing loud besides me, and most of all, driving there and back home. And of course, yes, there is a pretty good chance that I won't like the movie, lol

Hollywood keeps producing a mass quantity of bad movies, there are a bunch of new movies opening every Friday and the majority of them are worthless, no wonder the numbers are down.
