Papillon (2017)

Postby chouette » Jan Tue 10, 2017 3:51 am

I'm sure most of you guys remember the awesome movie PAPILLON that came out in 1973 about a prisoner detained on a remote island and how he plots his escape!? They are planning a remake sometime this year and let me tell you that this is one movie I WILL NOT miss!

The film will star Charlie Hunnam (SOA) as Henri Charrière ("Papillon"), and Rami Malek (Mr. Robot) as Louis Dega. It will also star Tommy Flanagan (also from SOA).

Director: Michael Noer
Writers: Henri Charrière (book), Aaron Guzikowski (screenplay)

There is no trailer yet, but hopefully one will be available soon, with a release date!

The original, with Steve McQueen (I originally said Paul Newman, but BajeeZa corrected me) & Dustin Hoffman, will be hard, if not impossible, to beat. I don't envy these new guys the task.

Good grief! I'm always doing that! My whole life I've always mixed those two up, even though they don't even look alike at all. Thanks for catching me on that one!  :-l

Original is great.  I'll have a look at the new one but don't expect much.

Don't let her kid you folks, she does not think it will be a great film-- this is the only reason she will not miss it.
