The publicity train for the new James Bond film "Spectre" has begun with Daniel Craig having begun the first long-lead interviews for the film ahead of its release. In a lengthy piece for Esquire, he reveals that director Sam Mendes will be all finished making the film (ie. locking it) next week. Craig says that after the billion dollar success of "Skyfall," everyone involved in the franchise wasn't quite sure what to do:    "I think everyone was just daunted, understandably. Like, it's 'the biggest British movie of all time'. What does it f--king mean? Where do we go from there? How do you process that? It could have been an albatross around everyone's necks. It turned out not to be, but there was a massive amount of pressure at the beginning." Originally the plan was to do a more flamboyant and confident Bond, something more akin to the classic super spy films of previous actors in the role. The idea of delving into the character's origins though was something he thought too good to pass up:    "I think I'd just got it into my head that flamboyance was the way forward and f--k it, nothing touched him. But as we got into the story and rooted out the connections, they were too good to leave alone. I feel like we've all done our absolute f--king best and that's a good feeling... It's Skyfall times 10." Craig went on to discuss the role of Bond and his treatment of women, and how ultimately his old school hero is kind of deliberately out of place and a bit sad:    "He's very f--king lonely. There's a great sadness. He's f--king these beautiful women but then they leave and it's... sad. And as a man gets older it's not a good look. It might be a nice fantasy - that's debatable - but the reality, after a couple of months...    Hopefully my Bond is not as sexist and misogynistic as [earlier incarnations]. The world has changed. I am certainly not that person. But he is, and so what does that mean? It means you cast great actresses and make the parts as good as you can for the women in the movies." Though Craig is contracted to one more Bond movie after "Spectre," he seems unsure if he'll be back in the role again and doesn't have the desire to return for even one more: "At this moment, no. I have a life and I've got to get on with it a bit. But we'll see... I don't know. I really don't know. Honestly. I'm not trying to be coy. At the moment I can't even conceive it." "Spectre" opens in cinemas in early November.

To see a less successful bond would not be as bad if it were another actor.  You expect that.  If Craig does another and it is not at least as good it would ruin his whole run.

That's true but if he's under contract it will be hard to imagine they will let him off the hook, just like that.

That "life" he spoke of getting back to, is paid for by doing films, I think he would be pretty silly to end up being sued for breach of contract and throw that into a turmoil over not doing what is in fact his job, lol.

That just seems unlikely to me, I bet when the next Bond is made he will in fact, be back, any takers?

Plus he did not actually say he would not do it, he just said he could not conceive it right now, understandable really after the amount of time an effort I'm sure he has expended on this one, give him a year and things will look different.

I bet he does it if there is a strong story.  I suspect the next one won't just be a thoughtless pile of rubble so I expect to see one more from him.

Looks like Mr Bond has come full circle now, in a recent interview he has done a one-eighty from his "I'm done with Bond" statement, lmao.

In fact I think it pretty obvious now that he stepped in it when he made that off-hand statement and really has spent the last year back-peddling from it at every interview and press conference.

Personally I think he or any actor for that matter should never paint themselves in corner like that, the press lives for that stuff, even if it were true, he would have been better served with a simple ask me in a year response and left it at that.

Production on Bond 25 will begin in December with Danny Boyle directing Daniel Craig’s 5th outing as Bond. EON Productions and Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios (MGM) have reached an agreement with Universal Pictures to partner on the worldwide release of the 25th James Bond film.

Bond movies are all the same. Seen one, seen them all. Hate all of those movies. The Sean Connery ones have a certain charm but that's that. This Daniel Craig is no Bond. Where's the charm, the finesse, the style? The guy is a brute.

I was giving others a chance to air their grievances on Mr. Craig before I weighted in...

I find him like number three on my Bond list, being a Old Fogey for which Alien can provide verification if needed, I tend to think Connery is the only Bond everyone else is just a knock-off wannabe.

I was fairly tolerant of Moore, being a avid reader and book collector I have all the Fleming novels in hardback of course and the character is more a pretentious Englishman in the written word vs a rough and tumbled tough-guy Connery action-hero type.

Even so I like Connery better lol.

The rest all fall in a tie for third place including Craig, one is IMO no better or worse than the other except Lazenby who is perhaps the most disappointing Bond, hell actor for that matter ever committed to celluloid... sad just sad it was.

Yeah. Bond is Sean Connery. I agree. When you think Bond you think Sean Connery.

Moore wasn't that bad but it all started crumbling down after.

I've already said my opinion about the new films. Bond has transformed himself from a suave seducter who can somehow manouever his way out of anything to a simpleton who has just knuckles and fights. This new bond doesn't even have Bond Girls if you look at it. The charm of the character is lost.

I actually liked Pierce Brosnan as Bond. he gave it some style although the films weren't that good. he was actually a good Bond
