I've just started what is one of my favorite films. Early stage but here's where I'm at. making a simple cover. Not too much hooly da- hooly day. Just simple and if possible good looking and handsome.

The right image is brownish on purpose. Wanna alternate between bw and brownish. It has a gradient on it of that color.

Only thing I'm not keen on is the double title.

Do you have any suggestions if I take it out? Seems kind of empty only with "the" title. Maybe a dropshadow or a texture behind it. aybe some ornaments surrounding the title?

I think it may look 'empty' simply because it's a black space. Making it lighter would 'fill' it, but it will dim the gold title. Maybe a white/pale grey box with a black title?

Finished it but you tell me. Should I make any changes. Any suggestions? Anything not feel right? Please be harsh.

Looks good, though the white on white text on the front really detracts from the main title. If you want the Japanese (I'm assuming) characters as the background, then I think a different color for the main title would be better. In fact, the original gold you were using would work fine on the black one & might even work on the gradient brown one, if it's a bit heavier.

The extra characters are not working at all IMO will just be a distraction no matter how you do it.

I'd just outline it all in white then add some interest to the the text and let it go.

Thanks all. I like the way you put it CT. I'll also try that. I was thinking before I saw the replies of turning down the opacity of the Japanese character titles or doing different colors as suggested but It will indead probbaly detract from the English title.

I already uploaded one version to the gallery but by suggestion of a friend of mine I decided to put the banner on top and not blend it in. Tell me what you think . Does it look better bith the banner on top or blended?

There could be arguments made for both versions, but since there are such clear cut lines on the front, I prefer the full banner, IMO.
