I also like where this is going with each updates, and with all the help from these guys and gal, you are sure to end up with a very nice cover design. I also agree with Wys, the synopsis would look better if justified to the left. Is your font in bold?

havent had a chance to do much but i played with the synopsis and chouette the font is Helvetica Neue Bold Condensed. i always like to make my synopsis pop.

That first one looks best to me, I'd like to see that blend edge better on your top image.

Your spine text for 35th Anniversary sub heading has got too much stroke on it.

I'm assuming you copied the front text and scaled it down, problem is layer effects don't scale by default, means when the text gets smaller the stroke stays the same and becomes too thick for the new text size.

Photoshop Tip:

The easy way to do that is.

1. Duplicate the text layer on the front.
2. Convert it to a smart-object, (right click the layer or group and select Convert to Smart Object)
3. Then rotate, position the smart object on the spine and scale it.

This way the layer effects will scale down with it.
