i like the 2nd one better. you could add a gradient (transparent to black) to improve the readability.
looks great! :)

Agreed. The darker background makes it more readable, but I find translucent boxes distracting. I think the gradient idea is a good one.

Without is better, might make the text a little lighter so it will contrast just a bit more.

For my own curiosity and possibly learning something, what do you mean to make the text lighter since it's already white?

If it is white then you make it lighter by making the font either bigger pt wise or heavier weight wise.

A little tip on how to cheat and get a very slightly heavier text effect, without actually changing the font settings, is to duplicate the text layer and leave them stacked.

Here is an example, the top line is just simple text in white.

The line below it is the the exact same, except it has been duplicated, so it is now a text on text - double layer.

Star Wars - text.jpg
Star Wars - text.jpg (862.81 KiB) Viewed 659 times

If you were to actually use that method, one should make the first text layer as they like it, convert it to a smart object, duplicate the smart object then link them together, that way if you want to change it you only need edit one and it will updated the other for you.

;)

You might be able to change the anti-alias setting for the synopsis too, depends on what you have it set to now but setting it to "strong" will have a similar effect to the above if it is set to say smooth or sharp currently.

So just tinkering on the final edits on the back case, but in the meanwhile thought I'd share the covers for Episode 2 & 3.

Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones

Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith

Oh always have been. Can't help being seduced... they have cookies & beer  :P
Truth be told I just want to set the base for more versions of this series. Im a huge fan so currently im doing the dark side for the first there, thinking of either carrying it forward with single characters for the original 3 or maybe do action scenes from each. let's see Once the base is set then every time I come across something I can or could use I'll try implementing it into a newer version... well thats the idea right now  :-l  :-?

Getting better, the features work good now, the synopsis is readable.

Couple of things the stills look fine but they need a little tweaking the angles seem off vs the features frame also the spacing could be better aligned, on the synopsis I'd increase the line spacing (leading) up just a bit.

So had a bit of free time.... taken into consideration all the wonderful feedback without which the cover would have just kept going on and on, so thanks everyone.  :-$  :-$

Final Preview. I know almost everyone went for the First version, but some liked the second version as well, so I've giving two version for the first cover. Shall now move onto the second cover hopefully.  :roll

They're both great, though, if I had to make a choice, I'd pick the 1st version. I like the definition of the spikes on his head, even without the eyes being more visible. But that's not a huge difference.

I completely agree. I'd choose version one as well. The reason I went with two options is that I had a couple of friends over who liked the second option & so I thought instead of scrapping the version, rather use it as an alternate  :D
