Hey, all.

I started working on this maybe 2 weeks ago, and I'm almost done with it. I could use some constructive feedback.

Here's what I have so far; thanks in advance!

Hey buddy, long time since I've seen you about good to have you back.

I like what you have done with the lightning layout, it all works for me, I'd probably flip the title on the front as the US usually runs titles top to bottom like the spine but that is not a rule, so it's fine as is if you like it better that way.

Thanks for the encouragement; I know the features list and bottom logos still need to be added. I'm just worried about all the text overwhelming the back, and the photos needing to blend better. The last one is actually a cropped Blu-Ray screencap, since I couldn't find a satisfying promotional still from that episode.

Your cover looks great. I, too, like the lightning effect. I agree with CT on the front title. I always find titles running bottom to top very unsettling. I'm nowhere near as OCD as CT, but that's one thing that gets me. The other is out-of-aspect images. That sends me over the wall.

I started watching the series & made  it through season 1 but a few episodes into season 2, it just got really boring, so I dropped it. They seemed to want to focus on the inter-personal drama & less on the action & story. I can take only so much of the hand-wringing & weeping.

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out!

They keep both aspects of the show pretty much in balance, more than "Smallville" ever had an opportunity to. I'm not a fan of the "Supergirl" or "Legends" shows, but I'll be watching the huge crossover starting tomorrow...just to see what all the hype's about.

You could shorten the synopsis quite a bit probably at least the last half need not be there.

Blending vertical still rows is really not possible as they are incomplete images ie cropped to begin with so best to just divide them, I'd suggest very thin lines in the same tone as the lighting and maybe a slight faint red glow, something like this:

Very nice job.  

I'm normally not a fan of shadows behind text. However, I do understand your use of it since you want as much of the lightning as possible to show.

I do like ctaulbee's suggestion to add thin lines between the stills. Makes a big difference.

I like the lightning also, great touch with a great start! I agree with everyone's suggestions and also looking forward to see how it all works out!

Well, I think its finally done. I used smaller lightning bolts and a lot of masking to separate the images, and also changed one (Mark Hamill is great as the Trickster). I also replaced the tagline and added the features list, plus the bottom logos and some slight rewording of the legal text. Here it is; what do you think?

I'm glad you like it; it took a lot more work than I expected. The good news is that now I have a template, which I can use on all future seasons. I have the logos and stuff already done for that; just need to find the right pictures, plus redo the tagline, summary and features for Season 2.

This comment here is to ask you a favor (don't know if its big or small or even feasible). For personal reasons, I keek all my TV Shows (High Def and BD all) in DVD cases (suppose is a way to doferentiate them from the movies). I happen to have many 2/3/4 DVD cases and not enough BD (and I want to use them). Ok, sorry for the digresion.

Would it be possible to do also a DVD variant? I would really appreciate it.

Unfortunately, I only do covers for products I actually have or plan to buy...and that's 95% Blu-Ray. I already own the first two seasons of "The Flash" in hi-def, and have no plans for DVD copies. Thanks for your compliments, though; I truly appreciate it.

I wound up noticing a small but important error on the back panel for Season 1. In the process of fixing it, I also reworded the summary and features list a bit. Here's the new previews; I'm submitting the fixed versions now...

OK, so I've hit a little snag with these. It seems that Vortex has stopped making their 14mm 4-disc Blu-Ray cases, opting instead for 22mm like their 6-discers. While it makes a level of sense for them, it sucks for cover designers accustomed to the older cases (like yours truly). So, does anyone know where I can find a flat-spined 14mm case that holds 4 discs? The edges on Viva Elites are too round, wrecking the spanning-image effect.

I found what appears to be a solution, for the spine-width problem. Here are two links for the supplies you'll need. The first is a generic 14mm 3-disc Blu-Ray case, with a flat edge. The second is for some self-adhesive disc hubs, allowing you to hold a disc on the inside of the front panel like the former Vortex cases. I'd personally recommend adding your own hot or clear craft glue, just to make sure the hub stays put over the long term. There would be some measuring involved on your part, just to make sure the hubs are centered properly...but it could work. I plan to try it myself, by the beginning of next month. Feel free to comment below, with your opinions on this plan or any more artistic advice. Thanks again! =)

Well, it seems that Shop4Tech has stopped selling the slimmer, flat-spined 4-disc cases...so its time for the 22mm variety now. Thankfully, I have enough background in my Photoshop file, so I'll post the wider covers shortly. Stay tuned!
