Baccano! (TV Series 2007–2008)

Postby alienmem » Apr Wed 12, 2017 1:55 pm

Review and Why you should check it out.

Hello guys and gals. I'm not a particular fan of anime or cartoons. There are though some adult oriented show of these that are particularly great and when i refer to adult oriented it's no t cartoon porn( don't be that dirty minded  :D)

So without further ado I present to you the world of Baccano!

You might be thinking..Ahhh..it's just cartoons..It couldn't be that good. I won't watch it because it is cartoons. Well, Most movies you watch are almost "cartoons" in a sense. What is CGI after all? It's animation at it's core!

I'm gonna section this review into three well, parts.

1-The opening

Well the opnening gives you a look at all the characters in the show(each episode is just 20 minutes long so It's an easy watch). It's a jazzy score that is great. Here you have it:

2-The Trailer:

3-Reviews:

I hope you enjoy it!!!

Sorry... animation is animation. I don't care if it's Disney or animé. No, CGI isn't animation. CGI tries (though it doesn't always succeed) to emulate reality, at least to copy & try to simulate live action. Animation, especially of this type, is just lazy cartooning to keep production costs down. The old WB cartoons of the '50s were done better, not to mention the Disney classic feature films. I never understood the fascination with this kind of animation. It's like flat, painted claymation. The action isn't smooth, the figures are exaggerated & there's nothing realistic about it. Need I go on?

I'm not trying to bash, but to explain why I don't like this kind of stuff & why there's nothing, including phenomenal content, that could induce me to sit through even this short trailer, which I couldn't make it through.

No offense, but I, for one, simply am not & will never be, interested in the slightest.

You're totally wrong.GGI is animation. CGI=Computer generated imagery. Be it in live action movies like Star Wars and all those creature animation. It is CGI. It is animation.

Be it Pixar. All pixar films are CGI!!!! All of them. Not one of them is not CGI.

You're wrong as well as anime being lazy. Anime is an artform like any other. That's like saying Superhero movies are retarded. Like Superman pull on some glasses and suddenly no one recognizes him? THAT IS STUPID!!!( I love Superman but thatis really stupid)

I'm sorry to expres my opinion but you are completely wrong on this one. Anime is an artform and it's much more evolved than american cartoons. Japan, and i dunno the figures, but both in manga and especially in anime produce like 90% of the world's anime and like 90% of the world's manga(comics in US). That's just you affirming that something is lazy without no reasoning.

Give me a reason why animation is lazy? Do you consider The Simpsons lazy for example? Moana or Zootopia, Toy Story, Finding Nemo? they're all anime(animation)...are they all lazy to you?

I disagree, CGI is not animation, it can be used to generate animated imagery, but true animation is hand drawn like the classics in the '50s, the Russians were making beautiful animated shorts in the '50s, but their industry has died out, while Disney flourished. I liked Moana and Zootopia, but they are also described as computer-animated feature films. Animators always said the hardest things to draw are water and fire, so they solved with computers, but that's not true animation.

Ok, so by your rationalle no pixar film is animation, no 3D americna film is animation. So USA doesn't really do animation in movies anymore then. Ok, I'm surprised.

You are wrong though. Both of you. CGI is computer generated imagery whcih usually doesn't mean just a still. it means animation. While technically when considering a CGI sequence in a live action film we don't say it's animation it really is. If you weant to delve into the techical aspects of it you can search for techical stuff or whatever. But both of you are wrong. It is a fact

Definitely not my cup-o-tea, I do like Vampire Hunter D other than that I've not found much anime that appeals to me.

I do like several animated features, like Nemo and the new Zootopia which was great but as a rule the animation list is fairly short for me.

Don't watch much anime but doesn't mean I won't check something out when it's good. May take a look at this. As far as the cartoon thing, I understand what you mean. It's not designed to be cartoonish but sometimes that effect happens. Is CGI one big cartoon? Who knows? I do know everyone has a opinion so I won't say you're wrong. Great topic my friend!!!!

I watched all the videos posted.   It doesn't strike me as something that I would enjoy.  Anime has it's own style and I can see where some might consider it lazy.  I've seen some that I like and some that I don't.  I've even seen some that have a really great story but the animation is so bad that it ruins it.  For me it's hit or miss.  This is a miss for me but thanks for sharing.  If you hadn't I wouldn't even know about it.

As you might of guessed, I do enjoy a good anime so I thought I'd add my two cents worth here. For me the story has to be good as well as the animation and I've always found this style of anime a bit tedious. It's as if the artists try too hard to visualize the characters emotions - and why the big eyes all the time? But if the story is good enough then I'll put up with the visuals.

There's a lot of anime I like for various reasons that covers a wide spectrum, From Akira, Afro Samurai, Attack on Titan, Appleseed, Blood - The Last Vampire, Vampire Hunter D, Vexille, Ninja Scroll. I tolerate the animation of Evangelion for the story, as well as the style of Aeon Flux and even Samurai Jack. I like the anime of Gilgamesh, Gantz, Death Note, Avatar, Texhnolyze, Gunslinger Girl, Basilisk, Fullmetal Alchemist and even Witchblade for different reasons. I even watched the first season of Sword Art Online and found the concepts interesting but the animation childish I'm afraid. Of course Ghost in The Shell is a favourite.

So for this I'd like to know more about the story and what the premise is about before investing the time to watch it. I'll usually seek the opinion of those that enjoy the anime that I do and have seen the series, to try to gauge if it would be worth watching or not. So at the very least, thanks for the heads up about this.

I'm not familiar with this series and doubt very much I would sit down and watch it. I'm not very big on any type of animation, although I'm sure I will find time to watch "Finding Dory" one of these days... maybe...

While not anime, Aeon Flux is great and so unusual. Who thinks to kill off the main protagonist every episode? I also have The Maxx and love it as well. Again not anime but it was at a time that MTV seemed to be doing some great work - remember The Head.

In fact my avatar was a toss up between this and what it is now. I would have removed all the white background in this instance:

And I would have used this as my signature after removing the title at the end:

Now to get back on topic, I need to find out more about this anime Baccano and as I mentioned, from sources I can rely on before going ahead with it.
