Favorite Lines from Films/Movies

Postby Fogdude » Sep Tue 20, 2016 11:46 am

I've started games in other places using this premise as the basis, but it was a guessing game. This is not a game. It's simply about sharing lines or quotes from movies or films that you particularly enjoyed or that made an impression on you.

Every day, I probably quote some line from a film 6 to 10 times. My wife accuses me of 'scripting', which is a behavior most often found in people with brain abnormalities, or children with Autism. I'm definitely not autistic, but I can't claim my brain is all that normal, either.  :-O

Anyway, I'll be adding lines I most appreciate from various films. I'll include the quote, in quotes, ("), title of the film & the year in parentheses "()"(based on what IMDb reports, not that they're accurate, but they're a consistent source). If I happen to have a clip of the line being spoken, I may also include that, though that won't be often.

I invite everyone else to join in, either by commenting on the quotes posted, or by adding your own favorites.

QUOTE 1:

"i'll be back"

from Terminator (1984) to the Expandables 2 with many other as Last Action Hero...

Why is it one of my favorite, because in Terminator it's just huge, then it's just funny  :-O
PS: that doesn't mean i've liked all the movies

QUOTE 2:

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears...in...rain."

Now, this next line is my favorite one from the film Sunset (1988), but I've been totally unable to find it by Google, so I'm including a clip from the film to back it up. Please forgive the poor quality. It's the best I could manage & keep it small enough to include here, but it serves the purpose.

The line is:
"Shame on you, Wyatt, tryin' to pull that 'old man' stuff on me."
It's at the end of the clip.

John Wayne, as John Bernard Books:

"I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them."

One of my favorite film series is Back to the Future, and there's so many memorable lines; here's a few samples.

Doc: "Are those my clocks I hear?"
Marty: "Yeah, uh its...eight-o-clock!"
Doc: "They're late! My experiment worked! They're all exactly 25 minutes slow!"
Marty: "Doc, um...are you telling me that its 8:25?!"
Doc: "Precisely!"
Marty "Damn...I'm late for school!"

Marty: "Doc, uh...wait a minute. Are you telling me that you built a time machine...out of a DeLorean?"
Doc: "The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style? Besides, the stainless steel construction will make the flux dispersal...look out!"

Marty: "If you two ever have kids...and one of them, when he's eight years old, accidentally sets fire to the living room rug...go easy on him."
George: "...Okay..."
Lorraine: "Marty...such a nice name."
"God, who gave us life, gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God?" ~Thomas Jefferson~
