This one strikes me as yet another attempt to make the magic formula, that worked so well in Castle (2009-2016) , fly one more time. Problem is... Ilfenesh Hadera is no Stana Katic. Not sure if I'll try it, but I probably will.

I'll give this one a shot. It reminds me a bit of "The Mentalist" except that the comic relief is a magician instead of a psychic.

Yep. The Mentalist reminded me a lot of Castle. If they don't get too goofy, it could be worth a run.
