I don't know... that teaser sure didn't sell me. I suppose it might be good, but I'd have to see more. Willem Dafoe's name doesn't inspire me. He's done some real stinkers in the past.

Hmmm. I've always liked this story line and I've got the anime and the three Japanese films. Although the films were a bit disappointing and didn't do well with their retelling of the manga and anime. So it will be interesting to see if an American film version can do any better.

The story though, is very clever and gets you thinking about moral judgements. It deals with the concept of utilitarianism and who has the right to decide that the greater good out weighs an individuals right to life. A lot of the concepts are very Japanese orientated so I'm curious to see how this comes across in an American film version.

So yet again we go from manga to anime to Japanese film and now for an American film version. It's been done before and (very) badly with The Guyver, Fist of The North Star, Dragonball: Evolution, Speed Racer, and even Old Boy. But if it can be done well and profitable with Ghost In The Shell, maybe there might be a few more of these adaptations done.
