I'm not sure how you make a weekly show about this, well not one that will hold viewers attention anyway...

Well, they managed to make 3 feature films with it & I liked all of them. I'm willing to give this a shot. After all, there's a whole world of folks who can be 'taken' & need to be rescued.

I liked one out of three, so if that 33% ends up being the success rate for the series it will be lucky to make it one season. To succeed IMHO they will need to bring some very clever ideas for plots because doing the same kidnapped-rescued scenario will get rather repetitive, rather quickly I would think.

But, but but... that's what all serials are based on... repetition, a formula. Golly!

And while the 2nd & 3rd films weren't of the same caliber as the first one, that's due more to them following on the 1st, which had the advantage of providing the first impact. If either of the others had been first, they probably would have had a similar effect. I guess I'm just easy. Not cheap... but easy.

That's partially true but you are over generalizing to make the argument fit this series.

A crime series for example will introduce many different types of crimes and delve into different methods used to solve them as well as the various criminal types that perpetrate different crimes, they don't just follow one "type" of story all the time.

This on the other hand is on the surface depicted as a "Kidnapping" only series that is very limited in scope is it not?

It will probably turn out like Transporter.  The first half of the season was good.  They stuck to the transporting aspect.  Then when veiwership declined they went another direction and turned him into a gun for hire.  Then Season 2 comes around and they get all political and still barley any transporting.  Think they forgot the whole point of the Transporter.  I expect the same from this.  It will hold out for a few episodes they they will drive it another way and we will be left trying to figure out why the show is even named Taken.

Actually guys....you need to by-pass the arguments until you have enough viewing evidence to enable you to formulated a logical opinion on whether the show works or not.

Personally I think it will be a number of crap episode scenarios which will inevitably accumulate to the shows failure after the first 6 seasons.
