Storyline

An academic and graphic account of the rule of the famously narcissistic Roman Emperor Commodus, who inherited the Roman Empire from his father, Marcus Aurelius, at the height of its expansion in the second century AD, told over a backdrop of violence, sex, and corruption.
For anyone loving the Spartacus series on Starz or any series, movies about Roman days and history, you will like this series. It actually has several actors from the Spartacus series.

I generally avoid documentaries, but a dramatized series might be watchable. I did like the Spartacus series. I've watched it two or three times. I also liked Gladiator (2000) with Russell Crowe, which I've probably watched a dozen times. It was set in exactly this same time frame, so it would be interesting to compare notes on it with this 'historical' perspective.
