Cover set finished (suggestions, congratulations, ...)

Postby alienmem » Jun Thu 01, 2017 10:10 am

Just finished this cover for my set for venus in Furs/Crepuscule and Vless(aka Meat).

What do you think? I bought the films in slimcases so they're slim covers.

Well, I've seen films like this, but they didn't come in boxes with fancy cover art. They were usually in brown paper wrappers. :D

If you like erotic films you should check it out. It's based on the novel bu the guy whom the name masochism originated from. Masoch.

Fog, these films aren't porn dude. The film is just an hour long and It might even be on youtube(and if it's not it's relatively easy to watch. It has nothing to do with pornography).

Erotic is not porn.

OK, then it's 'soft porn' & REALLY not something I'd be interested in. Seriously, with as much nudity, there's not much point other than to titillate & that equates to pr0n, in my book. I'm not dissing it, or your taste, or your cover. Just sayin'...

What's soft porn? So he gives it to her gently? and the other is hard cause he rides her like a wild animal?

lol.

I really don't know. What is soft porn? So let's see. Let me think of a movie. Last Tango in Paris, which is considered one of the greatest films ever, is then, by your rationnel, porn. So is it hard or soft?

Technically porn is a film intended to depict sex acts and serves no other purpose, the difference is softcore porn does not show penetration vs hardcore which is fully graphic and shows all.

Once you add in a story line (not a classic porn story line lmao) it become something else in most cases and the sex scenes if there are any become a smaller part of the overall film, like Gasper Noe would be considered pretty hardcore but his films while rated mature are not classed as porn due to the fact that sex is not the main intent or focus of his films even though it is graphic in nature.

Okay, that makes sense. But then is the defintion of a soft porn film an erotic film?

The difference is soft porn there has to be a partner?

So a girl masturbating and exposing her naughty parts, where there's no penetration involved is erotic and not soft porn?

See you missed my main opening point, what did I say?

"If the "main" and usually only point of a film is to depict "a sex act of any kind" and has "no other substance or message" then is it porn.

No matter what someone else may try to call it.

To not be porn it has to have a message or intent (use real actors and real writers for example) and the sex must just be incidental or germane to the telling of that story, that is what makes it tricky to easily determine and of course opinions vary too.

For example I consider Porn good family entertainment were as most others do not, lmao...

Porn is explicitly graphic, soft porn is not, though they often share most other traits. As CT points out, soft porn usually incorporates a story or the depiction of the romantic side of a relationship, with all the physicality & nudity that entails, short of graphically explicit sex acts, though such acts are usually depicted, just not blatantly graphically. Porn doesn't restrain itself that way & if there is a story line, it's incidental to the main point, which is graphic sex acts.

I also comnsider porn very good entertainment sometimes.

But by your standards then, my film there is not porn! it has a story(it's based on a novel for Christ's sake!!! lol) it has legitimate writers, it has production value. It's a great film as well.

Back to the cover. I think it looks quite nice.  My only suggestion would be to make one with a standard spine even if you won't use it more users probably will.

An excellent point, Vince! Very considerate thought. It broadens the reach & makes it available to a lot more people who might otherwise not have the wherewithal to adjust it for themselves.

Yup we don't have sections for thin-pak covers anymore, so to upload it here you will have to make full-size spine version. In fact a lot of the odd-sized stuff has been trimmed off the approved sizes list as of last year.

So I can't upload the slimcovers? I would also do a standard spine cover. That is a piece of cake. just gimme a template and 5 seconds.

But I uploaded just a few weeks ago some eclipse criterion covers(slimcovers)
