Re: Anyone used a colour laser printer for covers?

Postby ctaulbee » Jun Wed 26, 2019 12:39 am

I have not tired different papers.

I bought a box of Laser paper the gal at the store said was best for the printer when I got it and I have not had issues, could not tell you anything further on it, I'm not one who "tinkers" I go with what works and only make changes if that is not the case.

Like the Xerox printer did not last long as it kept jamming the paper, I tried one other paper brand with it and that did not solve the issue, so the printer was replaced with the Samsung, even though it was not a month old it was sold... problem solved.

I don't live with things that don't work, they work as expected or they get replaced with ones that do.

At over 200gsm your using card stock, my paper is not that heavy it's like 28lb or 120gsm at 97 which is plenty heavy enough in my opinion.

This is my paper

Same brand at 110lb or 199gsm is card stock but as you can see it's not nearly as bright only 92, whiter is better in my opinion anyway.

5-6000 isnt even remotely possible. the numbers consider 5% of printed area per page (i.e. text).
different printers have different size toners, so its impossible to say how many covers you'll be
able to print.
paper weight depends on the printer as well. my oki was rated for up to 250g.
i experimented up to 230g, but to me 170g was perfect for covers.

hope it helps :)

i did notice that it said something like a % of the page, figured i wouldnt really know till i own one so to take the numbers with a pinch of salt.

it definitely helps, i had a look for paper yesterday and found two options for testing, one is 120 gsm and one is 160. so again i'll just have to wait and see.
