I have a few but I'll go with Gary Moore such a amazing guitarist with classic tracks like "Over the Hills and Far Away" & "Blood of Emeralds" can listen to him for hours.

These are all great, thanks! I forgot to mention that I asked the question because I always thought that the most important music instrument in a band was the guitarist. Not the singer, the guitarist. Actually, I could very well do without a singer, I find it distracting, lol

So I asked which one you preferred most, because I wanted to learn of new guitarists out there that I might not know as that's all I listen when I drive. I never listen to the radio, ever. People often ask me how is it possible that I don't know current news. Simple, I never listen to the radio and never listen to live TV. I've been doing this for years, but for some odd reason, the important news is always communicated to me as I have tons of people around me that do just that, watch the current news! lol

OK, enough of this. I will look up these fine guitarists except for the song "Stairway to Heaven" as I have that one, love it! Actually, I opened another browser as I didn't want to cut the song while writing my post.

I was always far more impressed with Hendrix as a singer than a guitarist. I know that's sacrilege to people of my generation, but I thought his national anthem was horrible & still can't stand to listen to it. Hendrix played with massive amps & feedback. His technical playing was sloppy, but adequate. Kinda like a drummer who can't keep the same tempo. Always speeding up or slowing down. /rant

Absolutely. I didn't mean for my comment to come across as any kind of attack on your personal choice. Everyone has a right to like what they wish. I know lots of folks who like stuff I don't That's why we have film reviews. I think Paul Carrack is one of the best singer/song writers ever, but most folks don't even have a clue who he is. As for Hendrix, I love much of his music, especially All Along the Watchtower, though he didn't write it. I believe his version of it is the best ever done, even over Dylan. I also love his 'The Wind Cries Mary' & 'Purple Haze'. He's another singer whose style really pleased my ears.

I've enjoyed listening to the various artist mentioned and reminiscing about the music.

There was one band that I remember was only instrumental and very guitar based but for the life of me I couldn't remember the name of the band or the music. I know I have an old tape of theirs and as it was bugging me I had to get out my old tapes (there's quite a lot) and go through them to find out who it was.

Well many, many hours later, as I had to listen to a few of the cassettes I hadn't heard for years, I found the cassette and the band is The Shadows and the lead guitarist is Hank Marvin. Looking at them now, I didn't realise how long they have been around for and how early they started. Nothing fast or fancy about the guitar work but I do enjoy the music.

So for a nostalgic trip here are two of their songs.

Oh my, that’s good music 2getted, and I’m glad you did that long search as I don’t think I knew of them. They look corny, lol, but certainly make good music.

Back in the day, I would listen to Inna Gadda Da Vida by Iron Butterfly for days, hours at a time. They have this incredible lonnnng instrumental part with guitars and drums. Loved it, still do!

Thanks for the heads up. It is a very cool track.

It was a weird era of music back then, you can just about hear the psychedelics. Same with the very early Pink Floyd music. I have Pink Floyd's album Meddle on LP and the B-side is one whole song "Echoes" which is another track I enjoy. There's real heart and soul in that style. I also like CT's pick of Gary Moore's "Blood of Emeralds" as, again, you can feel the emotion in the solo.
